POP! is a simple fun rhyming counting book featuring Dave the corn and his pals. I was very excited when it got the green light as I thought that illustrating popcorn would be easy after the chaos of the two Captain Looroll books! How wrong I was. Each of the popcorns had to be different and I got so confused as to who was who, because essentially they all look the same. I was glad when it was all done!
After the ‘success’ of Captain Looroll in 2023 (The book became the best selling toilet roll based superhero picture book on earth!) It was no surprise that a sequel (or wee-quel!) was commissioned. I say it was no surprise but it certainly was a surprise when I found out that It was being published in January 2024! I only found out this fact in August 2023 and it turned into a right bunfight getting it completed! The time the Captain and her team head to the local museum to get to the bottom of some smelly incidents. You can buy it here!
During one of the Covid Lockdowns I was, well I won’t tell you where I was, but suffice to say I was daydreaming and looking at a toilet roll and I noticed that the end of it resembled a cape. I quickly sketched a superhero toilet roll and Captain Looroll was born! From then on it was a long process, trying to come up with a story and other characters and in April 2023 Captain Looroll was published! I think this could be my most ridiculous book to date. Imagine if the Marvel Avengers were household cleaning items who lived in your downstairs toilet. That’s basically what the story is. Captain Looroll and her friends The Clean Team (Ray the Spray, Barbara Bogbrush and Victoria Sponge) have to defeat ToileTROLL (A toilet roll who has fallen down the loo and is hell bent on world Bumination!) As I said, it’s ridiculous.
Ginny’s Big Adventure is my first book with Hachette Children’s Books and it has been quite a long process to finally get her out in the world. Ginny started out in about 2018 as a one line little idea at the end of an email which featured many other fully formed stories. But it was Ginny or ‘Greta’s Great Escape’ as it was called then that was chosen to be worked up. The initial idea was based on the WW2 movie The Great Escape, but set in a pet shop where Ginny was determined to escape and see the world. After many attempts she finally is bought by an old bald sailor who wants a companion on a solo round the world trip! The final gag being that Ginny became a Guinea Wig! Well, after a lot of exploring many different storylines Ginny’s Big Adventure has finally come to life and she does make her great escape into the world. Along the way she has quite an adventure! Ginny is out in hardback in January 2022 and paperback in June 2022!
Scholastic asked me if I wanted to try and come up with a picture book which helped teach kids about climate change and how even small things can make a BIG difference. As this is something I really believe in of course I say “yeah!’ I worked on a few titles and different characters but none were quite right then at the bottom of an email I just put Dave and Greta Make The World Better! as a bit of a joke, not thinking that anyone would go for it but they did and so Dave and Greta were born! Obviously named after two of the world’s leading voices on our ever changing environment - Attenborough and Thunberg. As well as the story its got tips about how we can all help the world!
Now Go To Sleep! is the rhyming follow up to Now Wash Your Hands! We again join the kids in Mrs Moo’s class but this time they are all having trouble getting off to bye byes! So Mrs Moo goes to get Shirley Sheep (Head of Sleep) to help out!
Now Wash Your Hands! came from some FREE posters I did to send out to schools to promote hand washing before the Coronavirus lockdown. Scholastic approached me to make the character DORIS the DOCTORPUS into a book! Its also my first rhyming book and will also raise funds for NHS charities!
Rhinocorn Rules! is my first book with Egmont and is about a Rhino who is fed up of following the Rhino Rules (Hang out on your own / Be a bit grumpy / Charge at anything that comes near you) He wants to make art and make friends so he transforms himself into an amazing RHINOCORN! and it works. He makes lots of friends and has lots of fun but the other Rhinos are NOT happy! But with the help of his new Meerkat mates Ron sorts it!
Scholastic and the charity Young money approached me to come up with a set of picture books designed to help young children learn about how money works. It is ironic seeing as I am hopeless with money but I came up with Ed & Bunny. Ed is a sort of sensible squirrel and Bunny is a rather less sensible rabbit. They are given out free to schools and children who sign up to the scheme and have been a great success. They have also been made into fully accessible books and even a board game!
My third book with Scholastic is about a star-nosed mole called Armstrong who decides he wants to go to the moon. He goes there and realises it’s a bit boring and lonely and comes back! You can buy it here
This is my second book for Scholastic, published in February 2018. Its about a secret agent spider who lives in the loft and is called into action to save a birthday cake from a pesky fly.
SuperBat is my first book for Scholastic. It's about a bat who wants to be special but finds out that all his mates have the same super skills, which obviously makes him feel like a bit of a plonker. But he saves the day in the end!

Ages ago I wrote and illustrated a kids book and even though it was well liked, no one wanted to publish it because it was too brown, had too many bad puns in it and it brought with it the risk of a lawsuit by an A list Hollywood star. So I shelved it until one day my printer told me I had a load of commission sitting there doing nothing so I decided to publish it myself. It was a lot of work but I had a lot of fun promoting it and it got into over 30 bookshops! I've still got a few left for sale at the address below.
